Michigan Institute for Data Science Website

Beginning in the summer of 2022, I served as the primary WordPress administrator, web designer, and developer for the University of Michigan Institute for Data Science (MIDAS) webpage. I designed, implemented, tested, and published dozens of new pages, redesigned and upgraded legacy codebases and content, automated time-consuming workflows, and published promotional materials and news communications for an audience of over 7,500 recipients.

UX and UI Design and Development

MIDAS produces and maintains a lot of web content. As the primary designer and developer for the institute, I prototyped and implemented responsive, accessible, and attractive web content for the Institute. Highlighted designs include event pages for cutting-edge AI research colloquia, a hub for a multi-million dollar postdoc program sponsored by the Eric & Wendy Schmidt Futures Foundation, and a compelling end-of-year overview page for MIDAS activities in 2022.

As a backend developer, WordPress administrator, and database architect, I designed and programmed automated workflows for updates and maintenance to a database of over 500 affiliated faculty member profile pages, created accurate, accessible, and resilient CMS and API-based feeds for upcoming events, featured headlines, and funded research projects. I was able to help MIDAS remove a costly third-party calendar management app, Trumba, from the workflow.

Project and Product Management

As a Project Manager at MIDAS, I also interviewed, onboarded, supervised, and trained a team of undergraduate web development assistants, and translated the needs of the client and the users to actionable development strategies for these assistants using a Kanban board. The MIDAS workplace moves quickly - and my team and I delivered high-quality work with a rapid turnaround using these lean project management methods.
